About Cruise West
Cruise West is an exciting company
at the forefront of small-ship cruising. Since 1973 Cruise West has been
providing its special brand of cruising to those who want to explore the
coast of The Americas. Today, the company offers itineraries in Alaska,
British Columbia and the islands of the Pacific Northwest, the Columbia
& Snake Rivers, the California Wine Country from San Francisco, Baja
Mexico's Sea of Cortés, and Costa Rica & Panama-on ships with
just 70 to 114 fortunate guests. We provide an invaluable service to the
guests aboard our ships - exciting memories that last a lifetime. We know
that the Cruise West employees are the reason for our success, and we
enthusiastically show our appreciation for their hard work and dedication.
Cruise West, a Seattle-based company, was established in 1973 by Chuck West and his son, Dick West. During the 70s and early 80s, the company was primarily an operator of motorcoach tours and sightseeing on Alaska-Yukon highways and in major Alaska cities. The company also operated day boat cruises on Alaska's Prince William Sound and Inside Passage.
In 1989 Cruise West acquired a small cruise ship, the 52-guest Spirit of Glacier Bay. The next year, we began offering a new series of overnight cruises in Glacier Bay that departed from Juneau. Since then, the company has grown to own and operate a fleet of six small cruise ships and one motor yacht, with capacities ranging from 70 to 114 guests. The company has grown to become the largest small-ship cruise line in North America.
The company offers seven different Alaska cruise itineraries between April and September. Itineraries range from three-night cruises on Prince William Sound to ten-night voyages between Seattle and the northern limits of the Inside Passage - Glacier Bay, Skagway and Juneau.
Cruise West's wholly owned land tour operation, Alaska Sightseeing, still operates land tours throughout Alaska, using a fleet of city tour buses and luxury Prevost motorcoaches. Small-ship cruises connect with a range of ongoing cruise-tour options featuring destinations in South-Central, Interior and Arctic Alaska.
